Kim Wirthlin
Kim Wirthlin is the Vice President for Government Relations at the University of Utah and the Associate Vice President for Public Affairs and Marketing for the University's Health Care system and Health Sciences. She began her university career as the first director of government and institutional relations for the University of Utah Health Sciences. For the past 10 years, she has developed and executed legislative strategy, tracked health care and higher education issues and influenced policy development at both the state and federal level. In 2005, Wirthlin was asked to oversee state and federal government relations for the entire campus and became the first vice president for University of Utah government relations.
Since 2004, Wirthlin has also overseen public affairs and marketing for the health sciences. In her current position as the associate vice president, she launched a major branding campaign to position University Health Care as the premier health services provider in the Intermountain West.
Wirthlin holds bachelor of arts and master of public administration degrees from the University of Utah. To maintain a work/life balance, Wirthlin spends time in the mountains skiing, biking, climbing and mountaineering. In 2009, she climbed the highest mountain in North America, Denali.
