Linda K. Amos Award

Nancy Nickman, Chair

The PCSW works with the Office for Equity and Diversity and the Women's Week Committee, the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women, and to solicit for the Linda K. Amos Award for Distinguished Service to Women at the University of Utah. This award recognizes a female staff or faculty member at the University of Utah who has selflessly given time and energy to improve the educational and/or working environment for women at the University. Nominees should represent the ideals and actions of Dr. Linda K. Amos, for whom the award was named. Dr. Amos was the founding chair of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women, was a professor of Nursing, served for many years as dean for the College of Nursing, and as Associate Vice President for Health Sciences. Throughout her career, she was the champion for improving the status and experience of women on campus. The award is presented annually during the University's Women's Week Celebration.

The Linda K. Amos Award subcommittee is comprised largely of previous recipients of the prestigious award, but some non-recipients, usually members of the PCSW, also sit on the subcommittee. The subcommittee reviews the nominations for the award and selects the recipient, subject to approval by the PCSW and the Associate Vice President for Equity and Diversity.
