C. Kai Medina-Martinez
C. Kai Medina-Martinez, MSW, LCSW serves as the director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center at the University of Utah, is a licensed clinical social worker and is an adjunct instructor in the graduate school of social work at the University. In 2010 Kai was the recipient of the Pete Suazo Community Justice Award in the area of individual and community empowerment.
A first generation college graduate, Kai received a BS in psychology and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah and is currently planning to return to school in fall 2011 to pursue a PhD. In Kai's position at the University of Utah, responsibilities include serving on the Staff Council, Student Affairs Diversity Council, Women's Week Committee, Presidential Commission of the Status of Women, the Conflict of Interest Committee and Human Resources Diversity and Equity Committee. Kai is committed to social justice and believe that everyone regardless of how they identity, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. When not at work, Kai enjoys being a parent to a 13 year old son, traveling, walking and biking.
